Easy-To-Read Version (ERV) Corrupts Galatians 6:9

By David J. Stewart | October 2015

Galatians 6:9, “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” —King James Bible

The apostle Peter admitted with an honest heart that some of the apostle Paul's writings were difficult to understand. Peter also acknowledges that some people wrested (twisted) Paul's writings (which are the inspired Words of God) unto their own destruction. Things haven't changed 2,000 years later. Many people are wannabe Bible scholars, butchering the Scriptures, teaching things that they don't understand, damning themselves.

2nd Peter 3:16, “As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.” The Easy-To-Read PERversion of the Holy Bible wrestles Galatians 6:8-9, rendering it heresy, turning Biblical discipleship into satanic Lordship Salvation. ...

KING JAMES BIBLE (KJB) — Galatians 6:8-9, “For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” [emphasis added]

EASY-TO-READ VERSION (ERV) — Galatians 6:8-9, “If you live to satisfy your sinful self, the harvest you will get from that will be eternal death. But if you live to please the Spirit, your harvest from the Spirit will be eternal life. We must not get tired of doing good. We will receive our harvest of eternal life at the right time. We must not give up.” [emphasis added]

The Easy-To-Read Version (ERV) subtly but drastically changes the meaning of this passage from REWARDS for serving God, to WORKS for salvation. Jesus taught in John 4:35 that by our labours to win the lost to Christ, we are earning eternal wages. John 4:35, “Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest. And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together.” This is what Galatians 6:9 is talking about, that is, laying up treasures in Heaven as a child of God. The ERV corrupts the meaning of this passage, instead falsely teaching that by our labors we are earning eternal life.

Paul said that he had NOTHING to glory in except the precious Lord Jesus Christ. Galatians 6:14, “But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.” Zionists sinfully glory in Israel and the Jews, but the Holy Bible tells us to glory in the cross of our precious Lord Jesus Christ. HEAR YE HIM!

Salvation is a free gift, which cannot be merited or earned. Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” The theme of the book of Galatians is that salvation is solely by faith in Christ Jesus, and not by the works of the flesh. Notice in Galatians 6:1 that Paul addresses the believers at the church at Galatia as “Brethren.” Hence, Paul was writing to saved Christians. If we as believers choose to live for the cares, riches and pleasures of this temporal earthly life (Luke 8:14), then that is what we shall reap, corruption. But if we obey the Lord, being a faithful disciple, then we will have great rewards in Heaven. Luke 8:15, “But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.”

Daniel 12:3, “And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.” Be not deceived, if you invest (sow) for this life only, you will only reap this life's rewards; but if you invest (sow) in eternal things, then you will reap eternal rewards in Heaven as a believer. This has nothing to do with receiving the gift of eternal life. God offers salvation completely free, to anyone who BELIEVES the Gospel (Romans 1:16).

There is ONLY one true foundation upon which a Christian ought to build, and that is Jesus Christ...

1st Corinthians 3:11-15,“For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.”

If Christ is not the foundation of your salvation, then you are not saved. If the sacraments of the Catholic church or Peter are your foundation, then you need to get saved. Christ is my only foundation, the solid Rock upon which I stand, all other ground is sinking sand.

Now, as a Christian, Christ is my foundation, but I have a choice what I build upon that foundation. If I spend my life pursuing money, pleasures, and the things of this life, then I am building in vain. 1st Corinthians 3:11-15 teach that our works will be tried by fire, and only what's done for Christ's sake and the Gospel's will last. The saved man in verse 15 was saved as by fire, receiving no rewards, because he lived his life in vain, sowing to the flesh instead of the Holy Spirit. Every keystroke, mouse-click and article that I publish online is in Jesus' name, for the Gospel's sake, to preach the truth and proclaim the Words of God to the world for Christ. I could spend my time playing musical instruments, watching television or having fun; but instead I choose to spend most of my time fighting the good fight of faith, proclaiming the Gospel to the world, exposing falsehoods, praying, and doing everything by the Lord's strength in me to make an impact for Christ in my generation. Without God's Holy Spirit working in me, I couldn't do any of this. I am nothing, but Jesus is everything. When God decides that I'm done, I'm done. All I know if that God has given me a VOICE, and I have much to say as a Christian. Philippians 2:13, “For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.”

The ERV is satanic, teaching a false plan of salvation. Please use only the King James Bible. It will be worth it all when we see Jesus. Galatians 6:9 is challenging us as Christians to keep going for God, and not to quit. If we do, we'll lose rewards in eternity. But even worse, people that we could have led to the Lord will miss Heaven, and their blood will be on our hands. The new Bible versions make little changes, but in so doing, they drastically change the meaning of the Word of God (and then it's no longer God's Word). I hope and pray that you'll use only the King James Bible. Thank you for reading this article. END
