Why Vengeance Belongs To God Alone

Romans 12:19, “Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give
place unto wrath: for it is written,
Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.”

There is a very good reason why the Bible teaches repeatedly that vengeance belongs to God alone. The simple reason is because only God is omniscient, that is, knows all. If you had the power to hurt someone who hurt you, or someone who hurt one of your loved ones, there is the real possibility that you might judge wrongly. If God were to allow us to avenge ourselves, we would go too easy on some people and be too harsh on others. Furthermore, we would be partial and biased toward our friends and loved ones, while tending to be merciless toward strangers and people that we don't like. In a statement, we would often judge wrongly based upon limited, finite and unreliable knowledge.

God cannot make such errors because He knows all and judges everyone based upon complete details and facts. Proverbs 24:12, “If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not he that pondereth the heart consider it? and he that keepeth thy soul, doth not he know it? and shall not he render to every man according to his works?” Nothing is hidden from the eyes of God. Hebrews 4:13, “Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.” Every individual has an appointed time to die... “BUT AFTER THIS THE JUDGMENT.” Hebrews 9:27, “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.”

With the invention and development of DNA analysis, thousands of people who've previously been convicted to decades in prison have been exonerated and saw their convictions overturned. Several high profile cases in the U.S. have involved people who've spend a lifetime behind bars, just to be proven innocent of all charges. It clearly evidences how corrupt, unfair and and unjust man's court system can be at times. Countless people have gone to prison for life, or were executed merely on the basis of circumstantial evidence (without DNA evidence to substantiate the suspicions).

There have been umpteen precedent court trials where everything pointed toward a guilty verdict. It seemed almost impossible that the person on trial could be innocent. Yet, after a break in the investigation the accused person was found to be completely innocent. As you can plainly see (and I've just touched the tip of the iceberg of problems with man's justice system), even the most reliable of manmade court systems still make mistakes, and sometimes convict the innocent.

This is why vengeance belongs to God alone, for only God is all-knowing. Ecclesiastes 12:13-14, “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.” Psalms 34:15, “The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.” Proverbs 5:21, “For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and he pondereth all his goings.” Proverb:15:3, “The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.”

While millions of villainized Americans are serving time behind bars for possession of a plant (marijuana), abortionists who slaughter millions of human beings each year are protected by law and still deemed honorable citizens. Americans can LEGALLY get drunk, commit adultery, film themselves having sex and sell it to their neighbours, worship the Devil publicly, et cetera; but a new proposed law in New York could make it ILLEGAL to drink a 20 ounce Big Gulp soda. The city alleges they're combating the growing (no pun intended) obesity problem in the United States. Talk about fascism!

The United States is becoming a giant insane asylum!!! Our nation's leaders are Godless Communists, booze drinkers, murderers, adulterers, homosexuals and Luciferian worshippers! Our U.S. Supreme Court banned the Bible and prayer from our nation's schools in 1963. They legalized abortion in 1972. They're soon going to legalize same-sex abominations, which they dare call marriages. The only thing “supreme” about those nine court justices is their arrogance, rebellion against God's Word and love for wickedness.

James 4:12, “There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another?” Notice in the preceding Scripture that God is the only Judge with a right to save or destroy. Yet, wicked people destroy other people's lives through sinful gossip. When man's laws supersede God's laws, they are sinful laws. For example: Man's law in America permits the act of abortion, but God's Law calls it murder (Exodus 20:12)!

The Bible has much to say (and warn) about judging others wrongly. Read the stern warning in Romans 2:1, “Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things.” James 5:9, “Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: behold, the judge standeth before the door.” Matthew 7:1-2, “Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.”

Everyone sins. Everyone sins horribly at times. All sin is “deep sin” as it is often termed. The only difference is that some people's sins are exposed here on earth, while other's sins will be exposed in eternity. No one will enter into eternity having achieved near perfection. No one in eternity will be without the shame caused because of sin. No one will remain above reproach in eternity in God's sight. 1st Timothy 5:24, “Some men's sins are open beforehand, going before to judgment; and some men they follow after.” Thus, no person has the right to throw rocks of condemnation at another who has sinned. To do so provokes the wrath and judgment of God against the person who is pointing the finger, gossiping and railing on another. Vengeance belongeth to God alone!

Romans 14:10-12, “But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.” Vengeance belongs to God alone, because only God has the complete set of facts about anyone or a particular situation! Jesus promised and warned in Matthew 12:36 that men shall give account for every IDLE WORD spoken. Matthew 12:36, “But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.” No one is going to get away with anything.

God can do a far better, more thorough and equitable job than we can concerning justice. “Equitable” means “implying justice dictated by reason, conscience, and a natural sense of what is fair to all.” God is the ultimate Judge, and according to James 4:12, “There is one lawgiver...” One way or another all of man's moral standards originate back to God's moral laws (benchmark). It is God's righteousness that enables mankind to deem anything as being truly “evil.” If there is no holy God and God has no holy laws for man to obey, then effectively man becomes his own god, dictating good and evil by himself, for himself and of himself.
