Whatever You Do, Don't Delay!

By David J. Stewart | March 2014

2nd Corinthians 6:2, “(For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.).”

My friend, today may be the last day of your life. Every single day in the news we hear about people and groups of people dying without warning, whether from a plain crash or a train wreck or an automobile accident. Death often comes suddenly and without any warning. ARE YOU READY TO MEET YOUR MAKER?

Every day millions of people are diagnosed with cancer, leukemia, Parkinson's Disease or any one of thousands of diseases. Ecclesiastes 12:1, “Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them.” Life's no fun anymore when you're in pain all the time, suffering from crippling ailments. The word “happy” comes from the word “happening,” that is, what happens to you. If bad things happen, then you're not going to be happy (although every believer is commanded by the Lord to rejoice in the inner JOY of knowing that our name is written in Heaven, in the Lamb's Book of Life). Luke 10:20, “Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.”

Is your name written in Heaven my friend? Have you received Jesus as your personal Savior? Christ died, was buried and resurrected from the dead three days later (1st Corinthians 15:1-4). This is the gospel (good news, glad tidings) by which if we believe, receiving the gospel as full-payment for our sins, then we are saved eternally without risk of ever losing our salvation! We don't get saved by doing good works, and we don't become unsaved again by doing bad works. We are saved by LOOKING TO JESUS!!!

Please DON'T DELAY. Here's our text verse again from 2nd Corinthians 6:2, “(For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.).” The dumbest thing that any person could ever do is to put off getting saved for a later time, because that time may never come. Death is the great enemy of every unsaved person.

The Bible refers to THE “STING” OF DEATH in 1st Corinthians 15:55-56, “O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.” Every unbeliever who dies IN THEIR SINS without Christ will feel the horrifying STING of death the very second that they pass from this earthly body and life into the damnation of Hell-fire. The strength of sin is the law the Bible says. Paul explains this in Romans 7:13 by saying, “Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful.” The awfulness of Hell's torment will equal the awfulness of a person's sin. Whether male or female, Gentile or Jew, in their ended earthly life, Hell does not discriminate and does not see race, color, sex nor stature. HELL WILL BE HORRIFYING!!! Life is short, Hell is hot, and eternity is a very long time!!!

If you do end up in Hell forever (and what a terrifying thought), it will be no one's fault BUT YOURS ALONE. God's invitation to be saved by faith in the gospel is extended to all mankind freely, abundantly and with no strings attached (Romans 10:13; Revelation 22:17; John 3:16-18). Eternal life is the free gift of God in Christ Jesus (Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9). Please don't delay if you've never been born-again by the Spirit of God, by the seed of the gospel (1st Peter 1:21-23), because your eternal destiny depends upon it (Revelation 20:15; 2nd Thessalonians 1:8-9). God is a good and merciful God, and He is willing to abundantly pardon even the worst sinner. Please don't let your love for sin and pride hinder you from coming to Jesus Christ to be saved (John 3:20).

Christians are tender-hearted people living in a cold-hearted world, and the two just don't mix!

Repent And Believe To Be Saved

Proverbs 14:34, “Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.”

Mark 1:15: “...repent ye, and believe the gospel.”

"Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me." —John 5:39
