Teach Children About Jesus Christ, Not Santa Claus

by David J. Stewart | December 2016

2nd Timothy 4:4, “And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.”

One of the worst injustices that you can bestow upon a child is to teach them the fraud of Santa Claus. The reason why is because Santa doesn't exist. You are teaching your child a big lie! Even worst, you're either denying them the truth about Jesus Christ, or you're putting Santa on the same level as Jesus. Think about it! Children are being taught that Santa is omniscient (he knows if you've been bad or good), and omnipotent (he can deliver gifts to every house in the world in just one night), and omnipresent (he's always watching you). My friend, those attributes belong only to God! And since Jesus Christ is also God, the Lord can do all those things, and anything else too!!!

And I don't believe for one second that it is a mere coincidence that “Santa” rearranged spells “Satan”! You don't have to spoil your child's childhood by taking away the American tradition of Santa Claus. Simply tell them the truth, that Jesus is real, but Santa Claus isn't. Jesus watches you all the time. Jesus knows if you've been bad or good. Jesus will reward you for doing right, if you're a born-again child of God. Teach them the Gospel, and how to be saved by believing on the Lord Jesus Christ. Santa didn't die for everyone's sins, but Jesus did!!!

God pity the foolish parents who brainwash their child with Santa Claus, but fail to teach them about the Lord Jesus Christ. The tradition of Santa started with the heathen world. Out of all the holidays in the year, the only one that the world puts an “X” in front of is “Christmas”! When someone says, “Happy holidays” to me in a store, I respond with, “Merry Christmas”! I'll never take “Christ” out of Christmas!!! Without Jesus Christ there can be no Christmas.

It's Not a Sin to Enjoy the Holidays, Even Though We May Not Celebrate the Same

Now, having said that, I don't believe it is wrong to have a Santa Claus decoration in one's home. We've got a bunch of religious hypocrites running around in America, who will condemn someone for having a Christmas tree, but they think it's OK to watch garbage on television. I'm not using wrong to justify wrong. I'm simply saying that Santa Claus is part of our American culture, and I don't think it's a sin to wear a Santa Claus hat. I have one, and I wear it for my grandson. It makes him laugh. It goes with my white beard. I grew up knowing about Santa, but I was never a believer in him. My parents didn't brainwash me with Santa, but I still got to enjoy a normal American Christmas. I'm a fundamentalist, not a nut!

I hate the dark origin of Halloween, which is a wicked holiday (unholy-day), but I don't think it is wrong for a church to give away pumpkins in a church bus ministry. If I can give away some pumpkins to get hundreds of children to come to church, then I say go for it! I once knew a pastor who despised the very idea of giving away candy and rewards to children for coming to church. Should it be surprising that his “big day” had about 35 people in attendance? If giving away pumpkins offends you, then don't do it! Likewise, I like Christmas trees and colorful lights. The important thing is to TEACH YOUR CHILDREN THE TRUTH!!! Teach them that Santa is just for fun and doesn't really exist. Teach them that wicked people created Santa to substitute for Jesus. If your kids know the score, then you can enjoy the holidays without hurting your children. I realize that celebrating the holidays is a controversial and often hotly debated issue in religious circles. We all have to decide where to draw the line. I don't care who you are, we all have different opinions and allowances in our life. 1st Corinthians 10:31, “Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.”

I think Christmas trees are fine too (just so long as you don't worship it - Jeremiah 10:3-4). I am OK with traditional American Christmas decorations, caroling and all that goes along with the holiday, just so long as the recognition of our Lord's birth is not diminished. But I must say, quite frankly, in my opinion Christmas isn't what it used to be!!! Christmas in America has become commercialized. Nearly everybody only thinks of Christmas in terms of giving and receiving presents. Children in particular (since most of them have no money to spend), only think in terms of receiving at Christmas time, which is a bad precedent to set. Children from the earliest age should be taught the joy and blessing of giving, not receiving. Americans are spoiled.

Please Don't Support Fat Cat Charities

Despite the boasts of America's generosity as a nation, look at the millions of homeless people barely surviving on our city's streets. Americans keep plenty for themselves! What we call “charity” is a giant scam in America, nearly all of which pay outrageous 6-digit salaries to their CEO's. They seem to be more charitable to themselves than anyone else! What a sick joke!!! What a hellhole our nation has become! People are so naive and gullible! While the chief financial officer (CEO) of the Salvation Army pays himself over $250,000 a year, millions are homeless on the streets. In my humble opinion, no “charity” ought to be able to pay themselves extravagant 6-digit salaries. More than half of Americans get paid less than $30,000 a year. What makes the CEO of the Salvation Army, United Way, Red Cross or any other charity worthy of getting paid 6 to 30 times that!!!

Literally, there are tax-exempt Jewish “charities” that pay their chief financial officer millions of dollars per year!!! Why should God bless America when we neglect the poor and lavish the rich? I'm not a Communist! I'm all for honest capitalism! But we're talking about “charities” that are alleged to be benevolent organizations, which is why they don't pay any taxes! I have a serious issue with any so-called “charity” paying anyone a 6-digit salary, I don't care how good at their job they may be!

Firemen and policemen risk their lives every day and only make $50,000 a year on average. In many places they receive much less, and in the case of volunteer firemen, peanuts to nothing! Think about it! One of the highest paid professions (if you dare call it that) is running a charity, who are free from paying any government taxes, because they are supposed to be “non-profit.” How many business owners do you know who work diligently for profit, who take home a 6-digit figure annually when all is said and done? I dare say not too many! If I had my way, no one working for a charity by law would ever be allowed to be paid more than fireman and policeman, who are considered public servants. Americans foolishly give to big charities to “feel good” about themselves, when in reality you're just making the rich richer. That doesn't honor God. If the Gospel is not being preached, God is not being served!!!

So if you celebrate Christmas, make sure to honor the Lord Jesus Christ.
