Why So Many Preachers Are Being Misled
Concerning Repentance Unto Salvation

By David J. Stewart | May 2014 | Updated January 2017

Romans 4:6, “Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man,
unto whom
God imputeth righteousness without works.”

The biggest lie of Satan in churches today is the demonic doctrine of Lordship Salvation. The Bible warns us that Satan is a master deceiver and liar (2nd Corinthians 11:13-14; Matthew 7:15; John 8:44). Satan doesn't work in the tavern, for he is the owner of such places. Satan owns all the gambling casinos, nightclubs and movie-houses. The Devil owns Hollywood and “SIN CITY” Las Vegas.

It is in the Church where the Devil is least expected, where he is able to do the most damage, but he knows that he must be sneaky and subtle to avoid being detected. False doctrine is much like rat-poison, it looks and smells good, containing mostly good food, but there's just enough poison to kill its victim. Such is the case with Lordship Salvation, it's a deadly teaching.

Man by nature cannot grasp the concept of a plan of salvation that does not require labor on the part of the recipient. Every false religion requires their followers to DO something of their own, to merit eternal life. Of course, the Bible warns that they will be cast into the Lake of Fire (aka, the “Second Death”; Revelation 21:8) to suffer instead. Roman Catholics require keeping the Vatican's Seven Sacraments, which includes water baptism and the confessional booth. These are manmade false doctrines. Notice in our text verse above from Romans 4:6 the precious statement...

Romans 4:6b, “GOD IMPUTETH RIGHTEOUSNESS WITHOUT WORKS”!!!!!!!

If every proponent of the heresy of Lordship Salvation truly understood the fundamental doctrine of IMPUTATION, then they would abandon the falsehood of Lordship Salvation (which is rooted in the heresies of John Calvin). There is plenty of Biblical evidence in support of what I am teaching concerning why people get caught up into WORKS SALVATION. Consider Matthew 7:21-23. ...

Matthew 7:21-23, “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”

They stood before The Great White Throne Of Judgment (Revelation 20:12-15). Jesus said He never knew them. He said “I NEVER KNEW KNEW”! They were dismayed, attempting to defend themselves. They foolishly said in Matthew 7:22... have we not in thy name “DONE MANY WONDERFUL WORKS?” Yes, they did many WORKS that were wonderful in their own eyes, but you don't do works to get saved. YOU ARE A SINNER! Unless you receive Christ's payment on the cross for your sins, you will spend eternity burning in the Lake of Fire!!!

The Bible only presents one Gospel; yet we see two very distinct plans of salvation being taught today in America's churches:

  1. Christ's righteousness alone by faith (which is Biblical)

  2. Lordship Salvation (partial faith in Christ + self-righteousness)

Ray Comfort is an extremely popular evangelist, with his ministries, THE WAY OF THE MASTER and LIVING WATERS. I really admire and like Ray Comfort as a person. Unfortunately, Ray Comfort and his sidekick Kirk Cameron teach the heresy of Lordship Salvation. Ray Comfort errantly states on his website . . .

“Merely being sorry for your sins, or confessing them to God won't help you. You must turn from sin (repent).”

SOURCE: LIVING WATERS ministry, SAVE YOURSELF SOME PAIN.

Heresy! That is total self-righteousness! Adding even the slightest work of self-righteousness to the Gospel corrupts it into a false way, a false plan, a road to damnation. As with the religious cults, like Jehovah's Witnesses, supporters of the heresy of Lordship Salvation speak with a forked-tongue. That is, they talk out of both sides of their mouth. They profess that a person is saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, but works are also required. Of course, they don't consider giving up a lifestyle of sin a “work”; but it certainly is a work, because it mandates personal effort.

Jesus plainly stated in John 6:29, “Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.” There you have it directly from the Lord's mouth, that is, the WORK OF GOD is that we REST IN CHRIST (Hebrews 4:1-11)! The false prophets in Matthew 7:21-23 were not saved, because they had failed to REST IN JESUS CHRIST. Instead they said, we have done “MANY WONDERFUL WORKS.” Well, God didn't think their works were so wonderful. In fact, Isaiah 64:6 calls our own works “filthy rags”!

Be Very Leery Of Religious Radio Teachers

There is another reason why so many religious leaders (notice that I said “religious” and not “Christian”) have been sucked into the Devil's lie of Lordship Salvation. That simple reason is radio preachers. People go by what they hear. Sad to say, most churchgoers spend a lot of time listening to radio ministers. So as religious radio personalities become increasingly apostate, so also are the churches becoming more apostate. I have visited Baptist churches where the pastor continually made reference to Rick Warren, Max Lucado, Pat Robertson, John MacArthur, Joel Osteen, T.D. Jakes and other heretics. The reason why is because many pastors are tapped into the world's religious system. It is really sad. As Edward M. Bounds (1835-1913) teaches in his classic book, “POWER THROUGH PRAYER,” you'll never rise above the spirituality of the Christian leaders that you follow.

If you want to hear real preaching with substance, meat and not just milk, listen to Pastor Jack Hyles. One of the main reasons why Dr. Jack Hyles' (1926-2001) preaching was (and still is) so effective, fresh and powerful is because Brother Hyles walked with God, studying the Bible for himself, rightly dividing the Word of truth. I want to hear a preacher who has spent time with God, who is not just repeating something that he read or heard some apostate radio or TV preacher say.

Thousands of pastors foolishly adore, idolize and highly respect heretic John MacArthur, because he is a very suave radio personality and a great Bible teacher in most areas (and because Moody Ministries publishes all his books and promotes him at their annual Founder's Week); HOWEVER, MacArthur teaches that Jesus' blood never made it to the Mercy Seat in Heaven, and that it is “HARD TO BELIEVE” (the name of one of his books). Jesus said that it is simple to be saved, as simple as going through a door (John 10:9). Anyone who teaches that salvation is difficult, hard and requires full surrender to Christ is propagating a false gospel of works.

There are hardly any preachers anymore. I agree with Brother Lester Roloff 100%... THE GREAT NEED OF THE HOUR IS PREACHING PREACHERS!!! I would never recommend that any young man who wants to serve God attend a Bible college that doesn't have preachers in the classroom. Good luck finding one! Teachers cannot reproduce preachers! Only preachers can produce preachers. Preaching is conveying convictions and truth with AN ATTITUDE!!! Teaching is the transfer of knowledge; but preaching is the work of the Holy Spirit in the hearer of the Word of God. Teaching is important, but preaching is more important! Titus 1:3 says that God chose to “MANIFEST HIS WORD THROUGH PREACHING”!!!

Don't Confuse The Purpose Of God's Law With Sanctification

There are many preachers of the past whom I admire, but they got caught up into the false idea that repentance means more than merely admitting one's SINNERSHIP. However, Romans 3:19 plainly teaches that the PURPOSE of God's law in the Old Testament is to to used as a measuring stick to show men and women their GUILTY CONDITION. Romans 3:19, “Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.” Please notice that the purpose of the law is not to compel and cause men to stop sinning, make full surrender to Christ, forsake the world or turn away from the awfulness of sin. These things are FRUITS of salvation, that is, the FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT (Galatians 5:22-23) produced by being a new creature in Christ as taught in 2nd Corinthians 5:17.

Most of the Charismatic televangelists (seen on TV) are corrupt con-artists, begging for “seed money” to rip off naive and gullible people (2nd Peter 2:1-3). A simple search of the internet reveals the extravagant lifestyles, huge mansions and ridiculous waste of money by televangelists. Due to the enormous cost of even a short spot on television, only crooks and con-men can make it on television. Thus, most ministers are found on local and national radio stations. You'll find some decent local preachers in the Bible belt. However, most national radio preachers are apostate—promoting corrupt Bible versions, promoting the heresy of ecumenicalism, promoting religious rock music, promoting liberal ministers, never criticizing the hellish Roman Catholic religion—inoculating their listeners from actually walking with God in the King James Bible, praying and fasting. No church will ever see revival until they are willing to pay the price in prayer, fasting and hard work. As J. Vernon McGee says in his commentary on Haggai from his THRU THE BIBLE series... “The farmer who prays for a crop had better have a hoe in his hand.”

When the rich young ruler came to Jesus in Luke 18:18-24, he said “WHAT SHALL I DO TO INHERIT ETERNAL LIFE?” Jesus perceived that he was self-righteous, trusting in his own WORKS. So Jesus used the Old Testament law the way it was intended to be used, that is, as a measuring stick. Jesus pointed out to the young man that he had missed the commandment on covetousness. The Lord told him to go sell his possessions and give the money away to the poor. The young man was very rich the Bible says and his sorrow equaled his wealth when Jesus told him to part with it.

John MacArthur and Ray Comfort foolishly teach that this young man didn't get saved because he was unwilling to repent by forsaking his covetousness. That is blatant false doctrine. Jesus wasn't giving this young man a plan of salvation; but rather, as Dr. John R. Rice (1895-1980) correctly teaches, He was using the law as it was intended to be used, that is, to show this young man that he IS A SINNER AND CANNOT SAVE HIMSELF! Galatians 3:24-26 confirms this truth, teaching us that the law is our schoolmaster that BRINGS US to the Savior. We are saved by repenting from DEAD WORKS (Hebrews 6:1) and RESTING COMPLETELY IN CHRIST (Hebrews 4:1-11). We cannot save ourselves (Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5). This is what the law shows us. When we attempt to keep the law and fall flat on our face, then the law points us to the cross of Calvary to be saved by faith in Christ's death on the cross for our sins, His burial, and His miraculous resurrection from the dead three days later (1st Corinthians 15:1-4).

A changed life, willingness to forsake sinful living, surrendering to Christ, committing one's life to God, and giving up sinful bad habits are part of SANCTIFICATION, which is an on-going process which takes a lifetime. You are saved immediately when you receive Christ, but it takes a lifetime to become Christlike. SONSHIP (John 1:12) is totally separate from DISCIPLESHIP (1st Peter 2:2). Notice in 1st John 1:6 that when the Bible speaks about WALKING IN THE LIGHT, the subject is FELLOWSHIP and not SONSHIP. Much heresy is created by confusing the SAVED life with the CRUCIFIED life. Dr. Jack Hyles explains this needful and awesome truth in his timeless MP3 sermon, STEPS TO SANCTIFICATION (or, the root of all heresy).

The Blessed Assurance Of Salvation

I thank God for giving me a clear understanding of salvation, repentance and faith. I was saved at age 13, but doubted my salvation for the next 7-years, to the point of crying regularly and skipping meals in worry. That was decades ago and I haven't doubted my salvation since. Just as 1st John 5:13 teaches, I KNOW that I am saved, and you can also. We can know that we are saved because salvation is not based upon how well we are doing; but rather, upon what Jesus Christ did at Calvary and the sprinkling of His liquid blood upon the Mercy Seat in Heaven. I am RESTING in Christ because of what HE DID to pay for my sins. Salvation has nothing to do with me, except that I am RESTING in the blood of Christ.

People who have problems settling the assurance of their salvation do so because they're focusing on WHAT THEY DID. Did I have enough faith? Did I miss something? Was I sincere enough? Did I realize that I was a sinner? Is it bad that I can't remember the date I was saved? My friend, I cannot remember the year, but I think I was 13 years old. Albeit, I DO remember the place, the event and the Holy Spirit coming into my life. I realized one day that it is humanly IMPOSSIBLE for me to remember every detail of my salvation experience, although salvation itself is not an experience. I KNOW I am saved because I am believing the gospel now, presently.

The impossible matter of trying to remember exactly WHEN I was saved is not an issue, because I DO remember calling upon the Lord as simply as I knew how from my church pew. I am presently RESTING in Christ. As I learned more about salvation, my fears went away and I gained the blessed assurance of my salvation. You should remember a time and place where you called upon the Lord Jesus to be saved, although you may not be able to establish the exact date or words that were thought or spoken. I know that I wasn't born RESTING upon the Lord for salvation, but I am RESTING UPON CHRIST now, so I know that I was saved in the past. I don't have the slightest doubt concerning when I was saved, because I remember the Holy Spirit came to indwell me that day and has been with me ever since. I cannot tell you the day, month or even year, and it is not anything to worry about, because I know I am RESTING in Jesus Christ right now.

The Purpose Of God's Law Is Not To Compel People To Live Right

One person, upon hearing Ray Comfort's false teachings, became scared that they weren't saved. So that person came to Ray Comfort for some assurance. The question and Ray Comfort's answer are presented on THE WAY OF THE MASTER website, on their FAQ page, Frequently Asked Questions...

I have just read The Way of the Master — and I am scared that I'm not saved.

SOURCE: The Way of the Master

Now here is Ray Comfort's lame answer...

It is healthy to examine yourself and see if you are in the faith. Once you have repented of all sin (see Psalm 51, 1John 1:9), don't doubt God's promises. Doubt produces fear. It is also a great insult to God—if I don't trust you, it means I think you are a liar.

SOURCE: The Way of the Master

Notice that Ray Comfort focuses on self-righteousness here, telling this person to repent of all sins (and as I just showed you, Comfort understands repentance to mean ceasing from one's actual sins). No mention is made of the gift of God, the imputed righteousness of Jesus Christ, or of God's unconditional love for sinners. Ray Comfort's mind is stuck in reverse gear, respectfully.

Ray Comfort speaks of God's promises, but doesn't mention what they are. Comfort's main focus is that a person cease from all their sins. It is just a false, false, false Gospel. Lordship Salvation may be shrouded in Biblical truth, but it is a malicious lie of the Devil. This is the power of a lie. The most believable lie is one that surrounds itself with the most truth.

Also, Psalm 51 has absolutely NOTHING to do with salvation. David had committed adultery and murder (2nd Samuel 11-12) and Psalm 51 records David's prayer of repentance. David was a Christian believer who had backslidden into sin. David was in denial about his sins for several months before Nathan the prophet eventually confronted king David. Notice in Psalm 51:12 that David only asks God to restore “the joy of Thy salvation.” David had only lost his joy as a Christian; but did NOT lose his salvation. Notice that it was God's salvation and not David's... THY SALVATION. Jonah also knew that SALVATION IS OF THE LORD. It is God's Salvation. Our part is simply to come as guilty sinners (Romans 3:19) and to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 16:31). God does the rest.

Consider further the following excellent words by Dr. Harry A. Ironside (1876-1951)...

Harry A. Ironside“The Gospel is not a call to repentance, or to amendment of our ways, to make restitution for past sins, or to promise to do better in the future. These things are proper in their place, but they do not constitute the Gospel; for the Gospel is not good advice to be obeyed, it is good news to be believed. Do not make the mistake then of thinking that the Gospel is a call to duty or a call to reformation, a call to better your condition, to behave yourself in a more perfect way than you have been doing in the past …

Nor is the Gospel a demand that you give up the world, that you give up your sins, that you break off bad habits, and try to cultivate good ones. You may do all these things, and yet never believe the Gospel and consequently never be saved at all.”

SOURCE: Harry A. Ironside, from the sermon: What Is The Gospel?

Thank God for doctrinally sound men of God like Pastor Ironside.

As with other false prophets, Ray Comfort leans heavily upon the quotes of historically great men to support his unbiblical position. Ray Comfort's, THE EVIDENCE BIBLE, quotes Spurgeon often. Unfortunately, Ray Comfort (as does John MacArthur) horribly take Charles Spurgeon's words out of context, and claim that Spurgeon taught Lordship Salvation. Nothing could be further from the truth, as this quote by Spurgeon himself plainly reveals...

"You must not expect that you will be perfect in 'repentance' before you are saved. No Christian can be perfect. 'Repentance' is a grace. Some people preach it as a condition of salvation. Condition of nonsense! There are no conditions of salvation. God gives the salvation himself..."

—Pastor Charles Spurgeon

SOURCE: http://www.spurgeon.org/sermons/0044.htm (from a sermon preached at the New Park Street Chapel, Southwark, on September 23, 1855)

Amen! Why doesn't Ray Comfort quote those words by Spurgeon? Ray Comfort is guilty of twisting the Scriptures around and misrepresenting the beliefs of Spurgeon to support his unbiblical position.

If Ray Comfort ever stops preaching heresy, and starts preaching the righteousness of Jesus Christ, then I will be his biggest fan and promote his ministry; but until that time comes I must contend for the Biblical faith, and so should you as a Christian, because Satan is working relentlessly to corrupt the church through false Bibles, false prophets and false doctrines.

As is customary with the Lordship Salvation crowd, they speak much doubletalk. Ray Comfort says that he believes salvation is based solely upon Christ's work of redemption; but then he contradicts himself when he continually requires sinners to clean up their life in order to be saved. And I'm not splitting hairs over semantics either, Ray Comfort is teaching a false gospel when he mandates that sinners stop sinning as part of saving-faith.

The Bible teaches in Romans 4:5-6 that we are saved by Jesus' righteousness, without works, and not by anything we do. The Bible teaches that A MAN'S FAITH IS COUNTED FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS!!! That means NO WORKS! That means you don't have to stop living in sin to get saved; but rather, you are compelled by the Holy Spirit to forsake the act of sin because YOU ARE SAVED! Do you see the big difference? (Romans 3:31).

Ray Comfort says it is NOT enough to confess one's sins to God to be saved, but that a person must also stop committing those sins to be saved. This goes 100% contrary to the plainest teachings of the Word of God! As believers, we must take a Biblical stand against those who corrupt the simplicity which is in Christ (2nd Corinthians 11:3-4). Ray Comfort's plan of salvation is extremely HARD, because it requires a large amount of self-denial, self-abandonment and self-righteousness. You are required to stop all sinful activates if you want to be saved. That is a false Gospel.

Please don't misunderstand me, I'm not saying that it's ok for anyone to commit sin; I'm simply saying that everyone sins, and it is self-righteous hypocrisy to require people (many who've never even been into a church building) to depart from all their sinful habits as a prerequisite to be saved. That hellish doctrine is not taught in the Bible. To no surprise, Kirk Cameron is a follower of the Modernist John MacArthur! On Kirk Cameroon's website, he voices praises for the John MacArthur Study Bible. This explains where Mr. Cameron and Ray Comfort get their Lordship Salvation heresy from, because Dr. John MacArthur is Mr. Lordship Salvation himself.

Pastor John MacArthur stated...

“Don’t believe anyone who says it’s easy to become a Christian. Salvation for sinners cost God His own Son; it cost God’s Son His life, and it’ll cost you the same thing.[emphasis added]

SOURCE: Dr. John MacArthur, Grace To You, an updated quote from his book 'Hard To Believe', page 93.

MacArthur even titles his blasphemous book, HARD TO BELIEVE. Oh, listen my friend, it is not hard to believe. Salvation is as simple as walking through a Door (John 10:9). Salvation is as simple as drinking a glass of water (John 4:14). Salvation is as simple as getting on the ark. Even the smallest person in the smallest family in the smallest place with the smallest faith can be saved eternally if they'll simply come as a guilty sinner and believe upon the Lord Jesus as the Christ for forgiveness. Acts 10:43, “To Him give all the prophets witness, that through His name whosoever believeth in Him shall receive remission of sins.” Amen!

Here is an excellent statement...

In salvation, it is God Who changes man; and not man changing him self.

Anyone who requires lost sinners to “make a commitment” to Christ to be saved is teaching another gospel of Lordship Salvation. The truth is that in salvation God has made a commitment to us, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Romans 10:13). Salvation is receiving, not giving. Ray Comfort's plan of salvation mandates that sinners give up the sinful world, give up their sinful habits, give up their sinful relationships, et cetera; but God gave up His dear Son to pay for our sin debt, so that we could be freed from the curse of the Law. In salvation, it is God Who gives, not the sinner.

“For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers... Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre's sake” (Titus 1:10). Satan is a master deceiver. It is what he does best. 2nd Corinthians 11:13-14 warns that Satan's ministers will come to us disguised as minister's of righteousness. Yet, sadly, the average professed Christian today is woefully ignorant of the Scriptures and doesn't care.

Mr. Comfort has influence over tens-of-millions of lost sinners, and is teaching them that they cannot be saved until they clean up their life of sin, thus negating the gift of God. Eternal life is a free gift (Romans 5:15; 6:23). A gift is freely given (John 3:16), freely offered (Romans 10:13) and freely received (Revelation 22:17). Again, Ray Comfort says...

“Merely being sorry for your sins, or confessing them to God won't help you. You must turn from sin (repent).”

SOURCE: LIVING WATERS ministry, SAVE YOURSELF SOME PAIN.

Ray Comfort corrupts the Biblical message of salvation. To no surprise, all Lordship Salvationists claim to believe in a free grace Gospel, but they do not. To say that salvation is the free gift of God, while simultaneously demanding that sinners stop living in sin to get saved, is a major contradiction. The PURPOSE of the Old Testament law of God (and I want to keep reiterating this truth) is to show us our GUILT OF SIN. The law shows us our total inability to save our self, and then BRINGS US TO CHRIST according to Galatians 3:24-26. CHRIST IS THE END OF THE LAW (Romans 10:3-4). That is, when the law is finished doing it's job, you will be brought to CHRIST TO BE SAVED. The law shows us that salvation is found only by faith in the gospel of Jesus Christ!!!

Salvation is a Gift; Not a Reward

If I buy you a Christmas gift and offer it to you on the condition that you stop getting drunk, then how can it be a gift? It's not a gift; but rather, a reward. Salvation is a Gift; NOT a reward. God's gift of Eternal Life is without works, there's no strings attached, it's free to anyone who wants it, just so long as you come as a guilty sinner by way of the Son of God, Jesus Christ. Salvation is not a matter of sinners making a commitment to God, but rather, of God's commitment to sinners who place their faith in His Son, Jesus Christ, for forgiveness. Christ died upon THE CROSS for our sins, He was buried, and then He miraculously raised up from the dead three days later. Romans 10:11, “For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on Him shall not be ashamed.” The word “ashamed” means that Jesus won't let us down; we won't be disappointed; He won't fail us; we won't regret putting our faith in Him.

Ray comfort and Kirk Cameron teach that lost sinners MUST stop living in sin to be saved...

You must turn away from sin and turn to God. Desire to have NOTHING to do with sin, and surrender your life to the One who can save you... If you will confess and forsake your sins...”

SOURCE: http://www.livingwaters.com/good/022.shtml

Again, nothing in the Old Testament law tells anyone to cease from worldly living as a prerequisite to be saved. The PURPOSE of the law is to be used as a measuring stick, to show men their SINNERSHIP. This is confirmed in Romans 3:19-20 and Galatians 3:24-26. The law shuts our mouth, preventing us from boasting of our own goodness, our many wonderful works, our religious devotion, or anything we have done in self-righteousness to impress God. The only thing that impresses God the Father is our total dependence upon His only begotten Son, Jesus, the Christ.

In sharp contrast to Ray Comfort's heresy, Dr. Harry Ironside (1876-1951) is 100% correct on repentance. He says in his gospel tract, ANOTHER GOSPEL? ...

“When anyone comes promising salvation to those ‘who make full surrender' of all that they have to God, and who 'pay the price of full salvation' he is preaching another gospel, for the price was paid on Calvary's cross and the work that saves is finished. It was Christ Jesus who made the full surrender when He yielded His life on Calvary that saves us, not our surrender in any way to Him.

SOURCE: Harry A. Ironside, from the Gospel tract, Another Gospel.

Dr. Ironside is Biblically correct!

All Christian Believers Are Soundly Saved

Ray Comfort teaches that professed Christians who deliberately lie, lust and openly allow sin in their life were never saved to begin with...

“When someone is soundly saved, God says I'll take my Law and I'll write it on their hearts, and cause them to walk in my statutes. That's what happens when someone is soundly saved, they have regard to the divine Law. No longer are they workers of iniquity. They don't lie, they don't steal, they don't kill. They don't commit adultery. They don't lust. They don't hate. They don't get angry without cause. They don't covet. It's those we erroneously call backsliders, who fall away, because they have never slid forward in the first place.” [emphasis added]

SOURCE: Ray Comfort, audio sermon, TRUE & FALSE CONVERSION

King David was a "man after God's own heart" (1st Samuel 13:14); yet he commit adultery with Bathsheba, impregnated her, and then murdered her husband to hide the sin (2nd Samuel 11,12). Abraham laughed in God's face because he lacked faith (Genesis 17:17). Noah got drunk (Genesis 9:21). Samson had sex with a prostitute (Judges 16:1). Isaiah was a man of unclean lips (Isaiah 6:5). Jonah ran from God (Jonah 1:3). Peter cursed the name of Jesus and used profanity (Mark 14:71). Peter went publicly naked (John 21:7). One-third of the Bible was written by murderers: Moses, David and Paul (formerly Saul of Tarsus). With the exception of Paul, Moses and David were already saved when they commit murder.

Yet, Ray Comfort errantly teaches...

“If someone is soundly saved, then he will never fall away.”

SOURCE: Evangelist Ray Comfort, audio sermon, TRUE & FALSE CONVERSION

My friend, there is NO SUCH THING as someone who is UNSOUNDLY SAVED. You're either saved or you're not. IF SAVED, ALWAYS SAVED. God can do anything but fail. When a believer sins, it is IN GRACE, never FROM GRACE! It is clear that the proponents of Lordship Salvation do not view salvation as an immediate new birth (a second, spiritual, irreversible, birth by the Holy Spirit of God. The new (spiritual) birth is just as irreversible as the first (physical) birth. You cannot be born again twice into God's Kingdom, for no child of God has ever fallen away to be unborn, anymore than a human child could fall away to being unborn. The new birth is radical, permanent, irreversible, eternal and a done deal by a supernatural miracle of God in response to each person's faith in the Gospel (John 1:13-14).

We are saved by simply RESTING in THE GOSPEL [Good News] Jesus Christ, Who paid the full price for my sins and yours with His precious blood. THE PRICE HAS BEEN PAID!

The Bible Is Something That Nails Things Down In My Life!
