Pastor Greg Locke's False Gospel

by David J. Stewart | February 2017

Romans 4:5, “But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him
that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.”

Kindly, a popular Bible teacher on the internet and religious radio today is Pastor Greg Locke of the Global Vision Bible Church in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee. The church was formerly called, “Global Vision Baptist Church,” but now they've renamed it to “Global Vision Bible Church.”[1] Pastor Locke has made appearances on FoxNews, including his recent appearances criticizing transgendered bathrooms. Amen for that! Unless President Donald Trump undoes this legal perversion of all decency and morality, America will never be “great” again. The same goes for perverse same-sex marriage!!!

Unfortunately, Pastor Locke teaches the same heresy as Evangelist Paul Washer, that is, a person cannot be saved and live any way they want. That is not what the King James Bible teaches. On the Global Vision Bible Church website they state:

We believe in the eternal salvation of all believers. Once a person trusts in Christ, they are forever kept by the power of God and can never be lost. Salvation is truly everlasting life. However, those who have trusted Christ are His and will obey Him and His Word. We do not believe a person can live any way they so desire and be saved. The Bible dogmatically declares that a person will be a new creature in Christ. (2 Cor 5:17, Jn 10:27-30) [emphasis added]

May I say, without trying to be mean, it is demonic heresy to teach that a person cannot be saved and live any way they so desire. Yes, you certainly can! But that doesn't make it acceptable to God. We know from the Holy Scriptures that our holy God commands every believer to live a holy life, just as He is holy. 1st Peter 1:15-16, “But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.” To be “holy” means “likeness of nature with the Lord” because “different from the world.”[2] It means “to be morally perfect.”

As believers, we cannot achieve sinless perfection, because we are not in our glorified bodies yet. At the Rapture, every believer will receive a new, immortal, sinless, perfect, body, fashioned like unto the Lord's resurrected body (1st Corinthians 15:51-58; Philippians 3:21). As long as we are in the flesh, we will struggle with temptation and sin, just as did the apostle Paul (Romans 7:14-25). Albeit, NO BELIEVER can live in intentional sin and be in sweet fellowship with the Lord. But this has NOTHING to do with sonship, which is salvation, which is the free gift of eternal life by faith in the Gospel (Good News) of the Lord Jesus Christ crucified, buried and risen. You don't earn or merit a gift. Grace is God giving us what we don't deserve. Mercy is God not giving us what we do deserve. Salvation is completely based upon God's grace and mercy, “which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith” (Philippians 3:9b).

Repeatedly in the Scriptures we are taught that the way to be saved is simply to BELIEVE on the name of Jesus Christ. ...

John 6:28-29, “Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.”

John 11:25-27, “Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this? She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.”

Romans 10:3-4, “For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.”

1st Corinthians 1:21, “For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.”

John 3:16-18, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. ”

Isaiah 45:22, “Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.”

Abraham 15:6, “And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness.”

Romans 4:3, “For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.”

Acts 4:10-12, “Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”

According to 1st John 5:13, the entire purpose for the Epistle of 1st John is so that professed believers “may KNOW that ye have eternal life” (emphasis added). Notice that the focus of the Epistle of 1st John is whether or not a person has the presence of the indwelling Holy Spirit, and not a changed life. 1st John 3:24, “And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.” Many Bible students make the big mistake of associating a changed life with salvation, but many religious people live a changed life, who have never been born-again. A changed life is not the evidence of being saved; but rather, the presence of the indwelling Holy Spirit (1st Corinthians 3:16-17; Romans 8:9). The Bible never says to examine others to see if they're saved. No, the Bible says in 2nd Corinthians 13:5 to “EXAMINE YOURSELVES, whether ye be in the faith” (emphasis added)!!!

In Sharp Contrast to Greg Locke, Here's the “THE GOSPEL” According to the Bible

Religion wants to fit us with glasses, but the Lord wants to open our eyes! Thank God for the truth of His precious Word, which is a lamp unto our feet. Psalm 119:105, “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” America's churches influence the world, so if Satan can corrupt our churches here at home, then he can corrupt the world. The United States sends out more missionaries than any other nation. Sadly, there is MUCH heresy and false teaching circulating on the radio, television and in our churches nowadays concerning what a person must do to be saved.

What exactly is the Gospel? The word “Gospel” means “Good News” or “Glad Tidings.” There is no need to guess what the “Gospel” is because the Bible plainly tells us. The “Gospel” is the Good News of Christ's DEATH on the cross for our sins, His BURIAL and bodily RESURRECTION three days later:

1st Corinthians 15:1-4, “Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.”

We are saved by BELIEVING “the Gospel,” which is the power of God unto salvation. Romans 1:16, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.” John 6:28-29, “Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.” It is that simple to be saved. If you admit that you are a needy sinner in God's sight, and you receive Christ's sacrifice on the cross as payment for your sins, believing that He was buried and bodily resurrected three days later, YOU ARE IMMEDIATELY, SECURELY AND FOREVER SAVED!!!

I am not trying to be unkind. I have nothing personal against Pastor Greg Locke or the Global Vision Bible Church. God knows my heart. But when information is uploaded to the internet, it becomes fair game for scrutinization by anyone, especially those faithful believers who are set for the defence of the Gospel. It does matter what we believe. Your doctrine determines your eternal destiny! It really does!!! Jesus said “YE MUST BE BORN AGAIN” or else you cannot enter into the Kingdom of God. John 3:3, “Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

“The mark of the child of God is that he loves everybody!”
