I Just Want to Praise the Lord!

by David J. Stewart | November 2016 | Updated November 2019

Psalms 107:31, “Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!”

I literally have HUNDREDS of articles that I began to write years ago, and am still working on them. This is the nature of writing, saving ideas to finish later, and finally revisiting those ideas. I am honest with my web visitors, showing the original date that my article was composed, and then when it was completed. I don't highlight updated content, lest it cause much confusion. It is my privilege to share my heart with you all! God has blessed me with many faithful followers around the world. Thank you!

There is hardly a day that goes by, where I don't pause from my diligent labors, look away from my computer, and tell God how much I love Him. God is a very good God! I just want to praise my God and Savior, for He is worthy. I was thinking today about how good God is to mankind. He gives us hundreds of delicious foods to eat, and delightful nuts to eat, and succulent meats to eat, and taste buds to enjoy them! Most of all, God is a merciful God. Micah 7:18, “Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy.” Wow! That is so precious. God delights in shewing mercy, and He delights in those who show mercy to others.

I dare say that any of us as Christians praise God enough! Can we praise God enough? Is that even possible? If we spent every second of every minute of every day of our existence praising our great God, it wouldn't even be the beginning of what our Maker deserves!!! If you are a child of God, our wonderful heavenly Father sacrificed His only begotten Son, Whom He gave to bleed and die on a cross to purchase us back to Him. Galatians 3:13, “Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree.” ...

Christ's Redemption

Some time ago an evangelist traveling was singing to himself the song, ”I'm Redeemed.” A fellow passenger, hearing, joined him in the song. After singing, the evangelist put the question to the stranger, ”Have you been redeemed?” ”Yes, praise the Lord,” was the answer. ”May I ask how long ago?” ”Nearly 2,000 years ago.” The astonished evangelist echoed in surprise, ”2,000 years ago?” ”Yes, Sir,” said his fellow passenger, ”but I'm sorry to say it's not much more than a year that I have know it.” So many people for whom Christ died are still unaware that the great redemptive act of our Lord was for them. While He died in behalf of all men, He only died instead of those who by faith have claimed it for themselves.

Oh friend, do you realize how blessed you are of God? I don't care if you're saved or unsaved, God has abundantly blessed you beyond human comprehension. Every breath that you inhale is given by your Maker. Daniel 5:23b, “the God in whose hand thy breath is, and whose are all thy ways, hast thou not glorified.” Even if you're the wickedest sinner on the planet, God has been kind to you. Luke 6:35b, “for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.” God has been good to everyone. Psalms:145:9, “The LORD is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works.” And best of all, no matter how rotten, mean, selfish and evil you may be, the dear Savior is so good that He is ready to forgive you, if you'll simply believe on His precious name! Psalms:86:5, “For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee.” 1st John 5:13, “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”

God's only begotten Son, shed His blood to redeem you and me back to God from the curse of the law. What does that mean? It means that because of our sins, we were under the condemnation of God's law in the Old Testament, headed for the Lake of Fire to be punished forever and ever, but we have hope through “Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come” (1st Thessalonians 1:10b). We all have so much to be thankful for to God! I feel sorry for the foolish people, who are so blinded by the Devil, and full of this sin-cursed world, that they cannot see the glorious redemption set right before their eyes! Oh, how the tears will flow in eternity, when “many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able” (Luke 13:24b).

I like God! I like His style. I like my great Savior. We love our brothers and sisters in Christ, even though they don't love us. We pray for them, even though they don't pray for us. We forgive them, even though they hold a grudge. We intercede for them in prayer, because they need it. I am listening to an excellent sermon right now by Pastor Steven Anderson called, “Loving The Children Of God.” What a great truth! I want to love God and others more and more. It is refreshing to hear Brother Anderson preaching about the “LOVE” of God. Bravo!

People will hurt us in life. They will test, taunt and tempt us, and ultimately throw us under the bus, trampling upon our feelings. People will be cruel and heartless. I dare say that over 95% of churches today are no better than the carnal church at Corinth. They hold grudges. They reject truth. They condemn the fallen. They allow a small group of self-righteous snobs to control the church, hindering it from flourishing for God. Instead of being a vineyard of soulwinning, today's Baptist churches have become spiritual mortuaries. They sinfully attempt to justify it all in their own minds, by claiming that they are just sinners, as if that makes it okay. Just because of the fact that we are all sinners, doesn't give anyone the right to commit sin! God is always watching. So what do we do as believers? I'll tell you what we do—we just LOVE THE HELL OUT OF PEOPLE!!! Kill 'em with kindness!

We should all praise God for good health. Psalms 139:14, “I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.” I marvel how anyone could ever deny the existence of God, when I consider the King James Bible and all the wonders of creation around me. The stars testify that God exists! The Holy Bible itself testifies that God exists! Our remarkable human body testifies that God exists! But not only do these things testify that God exists, but HE IS A GOOD GOD! Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised!!! Blessed be the name of the Lord Jesus Christ!!!!!!!

How much do you praise God? Are you too busy to think about Him? I often sleep with my King James Bible clutched close to my heart, when I feel pain in my soul. I live with pain of soul. I have have been through many times of inexplicable pain in my life. Gratefully, God has given me A VOICE. I want to have a big heart like Solomon. 1st Kings 4:29, “And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore.” I pray for God to give me largeness of heart like Solomon. I want to care about that one lost sheep out of 100. I want to care about the nobody, the underdog, the outcast, the unloved. And by God's grace, I believe that I do! I am not a great Christian. I have never claimed to be a good Christian, but I sure want to be. I want to please the Lord. I long for the day when my spirit and soul are separated from this sin-cursed flesh! I want to be like Jesus. JESUS IS PRECIOUS!!!!!!!

Hey, did you know that no matter how sinful you have been in your life, as a believer, you will be presented “FAULTLESS” before God in eternity? Jude 1:24, “Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy.” But don't miss that, He is also able to “KEEP YOU FROM FALLING”! There is no excuse for anyone to live in sin! When we commit sin, it is only because we choose to sin. No one has ever sinned because they had no CHOICE! We are all sinners by nature and by choice. Thankfully, on the basis of the precious blood of Jesus we have been redeemed, and are sinless in the sight of God the Father. If you are saved, you are a child of God, you have everlasting life, you have passed from death unto life, you have a home and angels awaiting your arrival in Heaven! Those are wonderful things worthy of praising our great God!!!

Life is Like a Pendulum

Everything is a double-edge sword in life. Brother Hyles calls it the “reciprocating law of life.” Life is a like a pendulum in a grandfather's clock. That is, the farther the pendulum swings one way, the farther it swings the other. It is true that I am a passionate man with a big heart, but the negative side of that is that I am prone to depression and sadness, I get my feelings hurt easily. So I have to be careful not to become bitter when people hurt me, and they often do. I have often poured out my heart to web visitors in e-mails to help them, literally spending hours to compose letters, but then they attack and degraded me, trying to shame and condemn me. So be it, I serve the Lord Jesus Christ. The “shame” is not in the one being condemned, it is in the one doing the condemning. I've been called all kinds of names by web visitors. But as a wise man once said, “It's not what you call me that matters, it's what I answer to!” I answer only to the precious Lord Jesus Christ! I serve a risen Savior!!! Call me what you will, you are calling Jesus that (Matthew 25:45).

One man called me a “hypocrite.” That means he is calling Jesus a hypocrite. Jesus said in Matthew 25:45b, “Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.” Of course I am a hypocrite, and so are you! We're all hypocrites in one way or another! Jesus said the “hypocrite” is the guy who condemns another (Matthew 7:1-5). I do not condemn anybody, and I never have! It is not my place to condemn anyone. When Brother Hyles mentions in sermons his father knocking his wife's teeth out in his drunken rage, someone could falsely allege that Dr. Hyles is a hypocrite for pointing out his father's sins. I am wise enough to understand that Pastor Hyles is simply using his own life's experiences to help others in the Lord. Dr. Hyles is not condemning his father, nor does it mean that he doesn't love his father. Only a fool would allege otherwise!

We live in a generation of ungodly critics, proud sinners who cannot handle godly counsel. I make no apologies for telling the truth, but I am sorry when people get their feelings hurt, because that has never been my intention. I am not here to be penpals with people. One man recently wrote to me, mentioning that he has been charged with three felonies and multiple misdemeanors for violating restraining orders concerning his wife. I kindly responded by letting him know that he needs to get into church. Wrong living comes from wrong thinking, and we think wrong because we have the wrong friends and influences in our life. he got mad at me, attacking me personally, trying to shame me and put me down. So be it! I was a friend to him, but he is a hothead, out of control. He doesn't listen to the courts. He doesn't listen to God. He won't listen to a brother in the Lord who is sincerely trying to help him. He is a fool headed for destruction! Proverbs 16:18, “Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.”

One man attacked me for promoting Pastor Steven Anderson. This is a saved guy that I exchanged over a hundred e-mails with, someone whom I considered a close friend in the Lord. He turned on me like a wild animal on its trainer, in a moment's time over my support of Pastor Anderson. And by the way, I am a friend to Pastor Steven Anderson. I certainly don't agree with some of his doctrines, but they are minor issues in my opinion. Some people want to make them major issues. For example: Pastor Anderson believes that Jesus went to Hell to suffer for three days and nights. We know that is not true, because Jesus plainly told the repentant thief on the cross that “To day shalt thou be with me in paradise” (Luke 23:43). So they couldn't have gone to a place of torment. Yet, I respect Pastor Anderson's right to be his own man and preach what he believes to be the truth. The main issue is the Gospel, and we agree on that.

God gave me an understanding heart, but the flipside is that I get my feelings hurt easily. I am not always as patient as I should be with people, because they are jerks sometimes.
