And Their Works Do Follow Them

By David J. Stewart | December 2015

Revelation 14:13, “And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.”

       The Bible plainly teaches that a believer's WORKS DO FOLLOW THEM into eternity. What a beautiful truth! This naturally leads to the big question: What are the works of your life, oh Christian? Are you doing anything for God?, or better said, Are you letting God do anything through you? Galatians 2:20, “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.” Are you letting Christ in you, live through you? I'm talking about Walking In The Spirit.

Galatians 5:25, “If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.” To “live in the Spirit” means to be indwelt by the Holy Spirit, which automatically happens at salvation. But then there is something called “Discipleship,” to follow Jesus, which is a choice that every believer must make. You don't have to follow Jesus to be saved, you just have to trust Him, believing that He died on the cross for your sins, and bodily resurrected three days later (1st Corinthians 15:1-4). This is because eternal life is a free gift (Romans 5:15, 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9).

One of the greatest compliments I have ever received was from a web-visitor who said, “Thank you for allowing God to do all this through you.” At first I was greatly humbled, pondering what right a mortal man such as I would have to give God permission to work through me; but then I realized the sweet truth from Philippians 2:13, “For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.” As born-again believers, it is our choice to “present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service” (Romans 12:1). This is a call to Discipleship, which is the reasonable thing to do. 1st Corinthians 6:20, “For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.”
1st Corinthians 7:23, “
Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men.”

I have heard false teachers say that Christians won't have to face their sins in Heaven. This is not Biblical, as we learn in 2nd Corinthians 5:9-11, “Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.” Our article is titled, “AND THEIR WORKS DO FOLLOW THEM,” which is based upon this exact phrase from Revelation 14:13. When a Christian breathes their last dying breath, their work on earth is done, sealed for all eternity. Those works, whether GOOD OR BAD done in the flesh, follow them to the Judgment Seat Of Christ. In other words, every day of your earthly life you are determining your happiness in Heaven!!! Yeah, scary huh?

Photo to Left: Elvis Presley (1935-1977), flashing a satanic hand-sign for 666. Notice the three 6's cleverly hidden in this popular Illuminati hand-sign. In other words, Elvis didn't just happen, he was groomed and unleashed upon the public with the help of Luciferians, in an effort to promote sexual immorality in the United States. Don't believe it? Check out, Taylor Swift And Satanism!

Do you think Elvis Presley (“the king” as he was called, who died on his toilet throne of a drug overdose in 1977)—who professed faith in the Gospel of Jesus Christ—will be happy in Heaven after spending his earthly life wildly gyrating his hips everywhere he went, singing the Devil's Rock 'N' Roll music, leading an entire generation of youth into sexual immorality? Elvis' hip gyrations were so graphic in sexual nature, that The Ed Sullivan Show was required by FCC regulations to block out Elvis' hips on television.

Tragically, Elvis was a known womanizer, rebel against a holy God, and career drug-addict. According to BMG & The Estate, one billion Elvis albums have been sold worldwide.[1] When I perform my Hawaiian steel guitar publicly, kids come up and ask if I can play Elvis. I have never tried to play “Hound Dog” on a steel guitar and don't plan to try! In Heaven's eyes, Elvis was a total loser, except that he trusted Christ as his Savior, which I believe he did. Elvis ought not be anyone's hero, because he was an influence for the Devil. Rock 'N' Roll music is an addictive psychological drug to the flesh. John Oates (of Hall and Oates) says, “Rock 'N' Roll is 99% sex!” Rock music is a deathstyle of immoral sex, substance abuse and rebellion against a holy God.

Lucifer is behind the mainstream music industry. And by the way, Country music is just as evil as Rock music, because it promotes pride, adultery, feminism, divorce, drunkenness, destructive behavior, revenge and all manner of wickedness. 1st Peter 1:15-16, “But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.” Elvis' works are unholy! If Elvis is really in Heaven, he is not a hero up there, I assure you. Elvis will have no rewards, no souls won to the Lord, no changed lives for God, no one that he helped in Jesus' name, no missionaries that he supported, no nothing. There will be Tears In Heaven (an awesome MP3 sermon by Evangelist Phil Kidd).

What Are Your WORKS Friend?

What activities consume your time, thoughts, money and resources? Certainly, hobbies are acceptable and right in God's eyes, but when a person becomes consumed with something, so that it hinders them from serving God, then that activity or thing has become IDOLATRY! There are people who spend every waking moment of their life performing music, and they enjoy it to the fullest, but they have no desire or place for the things of God in their life. That is the sin of IDOLATRY!

Tragically, we are living in a warped generation, where hundreds-of-millions of people spend nearly all of their personal time watching television, playing video games, stuffing their face and thinking about sex. We are now living in the wicked times of Noah. Matthew 24:37-39, “But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.” Americans love to dine out, party with booze, and have immoral sex! That's what Jesus was foretelling in Matthew 24:37-39—a time when people's minds would be consumed with pleasuring themselves with gluttonous eating, drinking and immoral sex.

People don't even try to fix their broken marriages anymore, they just quit and move on to their next adulterous marriage. America's corrupt legal system is largely to blame, which prohibits couples in a divorce proceeding from communicating with one another. All communication must be done through the attorneys, which is a calloused and cruel process, preventing any sincere reconciliation between the couple. Honestly, most lawyers and judges are bastards, illegitimate when it comes to any sense of true justice. Their WORKS are evil, for which they will be held accountable by God in eternity.

There are people who spend their life collecting stamps. Others build models and spend thousands of hours intricately putting boats and objects, piece-by-piece, inside a glass bottle. These are their hobbies, and hobbies are OK, but what have they done for eternity's sake? Some men love hot-rodding automobiles, and others enjoy hunting or skiing. What are you doing of eternal value? What are you doing to help get the Gospel preached?

Jesus is the only foundation of Christianity. And then as believers, we have a choice how we build upon that foundation, because every believer is God's property. 1st Corinthians 6:20, “For ye are bought with a price:  therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.” What are you building upon your foundation, which is Christ?

1st Corinthians 3:11-14, “For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.”

Does this mean that it's wrong to have hobbies? No, not at all. It DOES mean that when we become so preoccupied with this temporary world, that we leave off the things of God, we are wasting our life away. I love the following poem...

Oh let my love with fervor burn, And from the world now let me turn;
Living for Thee, and Thee alone, Bringing Thee pleasure on Thy throne;
Only one life, “twill soon be past, Only what’s done for Christ will last.

Only one life, yes only one, Now let me say, “Thy will be done”;
And when at last I’ll hear the call, I know I’ll say “’twas worth it all”;
Only one life, ’twill soon be past, Only what’s done for Christ will last. ”

We'll only receive heavenly rewards if our work abides. What WORKS will abide? 1st Corinthians 15:58, “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.” Laboring for the things of Jesus Christ will be rewarded. Anything that we do to help get people saved will be rewarded. This includes prayer, passing out Gospel tracts, fasting, giving to the poor, studying the Bible, living righteously in Christ, soul-winning, defending the King James Bible, contending for the faith, et cetera. God promises to reward all of our labors in Jesus' name and for the Gospel's.

Many Christians spend their lives BEING GOOD, but not DOING GOOD. That's not laboring for Christ. Praying for OTHERS who serve God is a way to labor for Christ. I regularly pray for a handful of preachers across America that I promote, for God to help them stand, for their health, for them not to go into sin, for their congregations, youth rallies, and personal family. Colossians 4:12, “Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you, always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.” You're never wasting your time when you pray.

The teaching of the heresy of Lordship Salvation is satanic, and is not serving God, and will not be rewarded. The use and promotion of satanic counterfeit Bible versions will not be rewarded, because one is actually laboring for the Devil. Yes, if you promote the corrupt contemporary Bible versions, you are pulling on the same rope as the Devil.

God promises to greatly reward those believers who forsake all for the Gospel's sake...

Mark 10:29-30, “And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's, But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.”

This refers to our heavenly family in the Lord. If you are saved and don't have an earthly family, YOU HAVE A BIG FAMILY UP IN HEAVEN waiting to welcome you, hug you, comfort you and love you in the Lord. If Elvis is in Heaven, he is loved and has a caring family. I don't believe that a believer's sins and faults are cast into their face the moment they enter eternity. That's what the wicked heathen do to each other. No, that's what The Judgment Seat Of Christ is for, which will immediately follow the pretribulation Rapture. When we die, I believe every Christian gets a big bear hug from the saints in Heaven.

The Works of the Unsaved Also Follow Them

If a person dies IN THEIR SINS (John 8:24), they will be judged according to THEIR WORKS, regardless of how small they may be. Every evil thought will be judges and punished (Proverbs 24:12). Every word spoken will be judged (Matthew 12:36). Every deed will be brought into judgment, even if you kept $5 that you knew in your heart should have been returned to the rightful owner (Ecclesiastes 12:14)...

Revelation 20:11-15, “And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”

The difference will be night and day between the judgment of the SAVED at The Judgment Seat Of Christ; verses the judgment of the UNSAVED 1,000 years later at The Great White Throne Of Judgment. Jesus Christ has paid our debt of sin as believers; hence, we will be judged according to our WORKS as God's children, without risk of being punished in Hell with the unsaved wicked. The unsaved will burn in Hell for ever, paying for each and every sin they've ever committed, receiving no mercy, no relief, no happiness, no rest and no love in the Second Death (Revelation 21:8). Literally, you can have everything (Romans 8:32), or nothing (Luke 16:19-31).

It warms my heart to know that God is influencing thousands of people through my website ministry, getting the truth into people's hearts, getting people saved and changing lives for Christ. It's not about me, God forbid. I am just A VOICE in cyberspace, a sinful man who wants to be more for God. I like the saying, “Don't be like me, be better than me.” If you follow me, you're going to see my imperfections. The same is true if I follow you around. We should follow Jesus, the sinless Lamb of God!

And Their Works Do Follow Them

What are you WORKS? Ecclesiastes 12:14, “For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.” Our total works are the accumulation of what we do each day of our life. If a man lives to be 70-years-old, calculating 365 days in a year, times 70 years, equals 25,550 total days in a lifetime. Did you ever think of your life like that? If you live an average lifespan, you have approximately 25,000 DAYS TO LIVE. Nothing worthwhile is accomplished in one day; but rather, it is achieved over a period of time.

A great church isn't build overnight; but rather, one day at a time over the decades. It's important to understand this truth, because many people won't serve God because they feel like they could never do something big or great for God. May I say, it is the little things added together that make the big things happen. For example: I am writing this article right now. This is one of the little things that I am doing today for God. I am listening to Bible-preaching as I am typing this. I wish and pray that I could do so much more for God, but I am just one person.

Albeit, I know that if God has more for me to do, then He will provide it. God asked Moses, “What is that in thine hand?” Exodus 4:2, “And the LORD said unto him, What is that in thine hand? And he said, A rod.” God used that rod to perform the ten miracle plagues upon Egypt. God used that rod to part the Red Sea. God used that rod to bring forth water from the rock. The lesson is simple and clear that God doesn't expect anything more of us than what He has given to us. Amen!

What are you going to do for Jesus Christ today... AND THEIR WORKS DO FOLLOW THEM!
