The Best Life Insurance For Seniors

By David J. Stewart | April 2015

John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

My friend, life is short, too short for many. James 4:14, “Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.” The Holy Scriptures remind us that life is unpredictable. Proverb 27:1, “Boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.” If you are up in years, you are already beating the odds of life, for may people die in their youth (accidents, suicide, disease, murder, war).

Let me ask you a question? Are you prepared to meet your Maker? Have you been born-again? Our Lord Jesus said in John 3:3, “Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Everywhere we read and go these days, we hear advertisements for life insurance. In fact, that's what promoted me to write this article. I was visiting a Christian website and saw the statement, “THE BEST LIFE INSURANCE FOR SENIORS.” Being a Christian website, I sincerely expected to see an article on how to be saved. It turned out to be an actual sales pitch for life insurance. So I decided to write the article myself.

I'd like to tell you about, “The Best Life Insurance For Seniors.” If you're over 55 years of age, you're legally considered “a senior citizen” in the United States. If you live an average lifespan, you'll make it to about 80. The United States ranks 26th in the world for life expectancies among the 36 member nations of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).[1] In the U.S. people live on average to be 78.7 years old. Switzerland has the highest ranking at 82.8 years! One thing is certain, and that is, we're all going to die sooner than later. The oldest women in the world, Miss Gertrude Weaver from Arkansas, just died at age 116.[2] With Weaver's death, the oldest person in the world is Miss Jeralean Talley, who lives in the Detroit area. She was born on May 23, 1899, according to the Gerontology Research Group, which tracks such data.

In view of the bigness of historical time, what is 100 years? As the Bible teaches, each of our lives is as a mere vapour that appears for a short time, and then quickly vanishes forever. People purchase life insurance for various reasons, but most often it is to ensure financial support after a breadwinner dies. Basically, the purpose of life insurance is to provide security. But my friend, what about your soul? Do you know that according to the Holy Bible you can have eternal security? What good is all the money, pleasures and security in this earthly life if you die and go to the Lake of Fire?

I visited Beverly Hills, California, when I had my first neck surgery in 2009. I stayed in the West Hollywood area. It was beautiful and I loved the atmosphere. I didn't know they had tall pine trees in California. I was staying close to the big “HOLLYWOOD” sign that is famous, appearing in hundreds of movies. As I walked up and down the streets, I saw million-dollar homes that were gorgeous. I could never afford to live in such a ritzy neighborhood. The food was great in many local restaurants. Yet, I couldn't help but wonder how many of those rich people were going to Heaven or Hell forever. No one can escape God's judgment. No one can escape going to Hell if they die in their sins. Life will soon be over for all of us. It could happen today! I'm not trying to scare you, I'm just telling the truth. We hear about people being killed in horrible accidents, tornadoes, murders and heart-attacks every day.

I wrote this article to remind you that life is very short and God offers free life insurance to anyone who wants it. Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins. Do you believe that? History verifies it. There is just as much evidence that a man named Jesus lived as there is that Julius Caesar lived. Why doubt the Lord. The question is: Do you believe that Jesus is Who He claimed to be, that is, THE CHRIST, THE ONLY BEGOTTEN SON OF GOD. John 20:31, “But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.”

It is amazing to me that most people will fret and worry over financial concerns in their senior years, while not giving two moments thought to where they will spend eternity. One day you're in your 20's enjoying life, and the next thing you know, you're 65 years old. Where did the time go? What happened? I know the feeling. I'm getting older much faster than I ever anticipated. Before long, Lord willing, I will be a senior citizen. My, oh my, where did the time go? All the things that used to be so important to me, now don't mean hardly anything. I was a giant music fan in my younger years. I loved all sorts of popular bands in the 1970's and 1980's. Now I hear about those musicians and singers: some in wheelchairs, others with brain-tumors, many are dead (drug overdoses, health failures) and the rest are getting up in years. Many are still performing concerts, fat and bald, moving in-and-out of retirement.

Listen to what the Word of God teaches about God's life insurance . . .

John 11:25-26, “Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?”

John 6:28-29, “Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.”

Acts 10:43, “To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.”

Philippians 3:7-10, “But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death.”

Jesus Christ, please don't leave earth without Him!
